This blog concerns the Virtual Friendship Quilt being created by the Asian Studies Project at East Carolina University. Contents will be drawn from contributions made by owners of Asian textiles who lent them for use on the Asian Studies web site.
When I first saw this quilt I immediatly thought of the Silk Road which connected China to various countries in Asia and Europe. This renowned and legendary road greatly facilitated the spread of textile skills and Eastern culture. It also promoted the mutual understandings between East and West.
Thanks to modern technologies, we can built this beautiful "Digital Silk Road" on website:) I am looking forward to seeing more things on it.
