Woman's Garment from Korea (Traditional)
This women’s embroidered silk robe is one of the traditional Korean costumes, known as Hanbok. For a long time, Hanbok has remained the same style with only minor changes on the length of ‘chogori’ or a jacket and the width of ‘chima’ or a wrap-around skirt. Hanbok is usually made of silk or cotton, and the colors of the jacket string and sleeve represent the status of women. Hanbok is always round and calm with the harmony of its colors, carrying the spirit of Korean people. Today Hanbok is worn for special occasion such as wedding days and national holidays. [YK/OB]
Undergarment for Japanese Kimono
My grandmother was a seamstress in Japan. She sewed many kimonos , yukata (summer kimonos) and other types of clothing for her customers, but also for her children and grandchildren. This garment was worn under a kimono. [SS]
Hat from Uzbekistan
In Kyrgizstan, my husband and I lived in city called Osh, which borders on Uzbekistan. This Uzbek hat, I believe, my husband got from one of the farmers working in the tobacco fields. [GE]

Calcutta Sari from Bengal (India)
Calcutta saris have a silk warp and a cotton weft. Their colors are bright, but subtle. [PS]
Embroidered Sari from Orissa (India)
This is an Orissa sari, from the western part of the state called Sambhalpur. That makes it a Sambhalpuri style/ orrisa sari. [PD]
Embroidered Shirt from Kashmir

These are omamori (charms) that people in Japan obtain from Jiniya (Shinto shrines). These are for a couple. Typically a wife would carry the orange one and a husband would carry the purple one. [SS]
