Bai Money Belt (China)

This is a money belt bought in 1991 from a member of the Bai minority in Dali, Yunnan province, PR China. Dali is an 8 hour bus ride north of Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province. The belt is made out of cotton with cotton thread stitching and includes a zipper in the top border. The female seller claimed that the images on the money belt are typical motifs used in Bai cultural productions. [CA]
