Chinese Dress

This dress was commissioned in 1991 in Beijing, China from material bought at the Friendship store. The outside is silk brocade and the inside is green silk lining. The dress is modeled after a traditional Qi Pao dress. Its cut is rather conservative with long sleeves, long skirt and a side opening at knee level. Many updated versions of the Qi Pao are short sleeved or sleeve-less, knee length with side openings at upper hip level.
