TIbetan Apron

This is one of two aprons that are an essential part of the traditional Tibetan women’s dress. They were bought in Lhasa, Tibetan Autonomous Region, in September 1992. They are made out of material woven from cotton threads in the typical Tibetan style. The upper border is made out of silk brocade. They are worn over ankle length, wrap-style, sleeveless dresses made from dark wool or cotton material that in turn are worn over silk or cotton blouses in a color that matches one of the colors of the apron.
